She was born on 29 March 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her birthname. Gerina Stevenson's parents were Mexican Alan Stevenson & Rita Stevenson. She is American and is of Mexican American heritage. Her desire to play sports started as a young kid. Gerina first started golfing at the age of 15. Gerina has graduated from Goddard High School. When she was in high school, she took home the New Mexico state golf tournament. Along with the sport of volleyball, she played on the state level. In 2003, she started her studies in The University of Texas. While in her senior years, she won each tournament that was entered. In her undergraduate years she was awarded the title of Conference USA Female Athlete and Conference USA Individual Player of the year.
